| The physicians and staff of Chapel Hill Internal Medicine would like to welcome you to our interactive website. We invite you to create an account and begin taking advantage of a variety of convenient services, including appointment reminders, appointment scheduling, instructions for GI and Cardiology procedures, and paperwork that you can complete from the comfort and convenience of your own home, reducing the amount of time spent in our waiting room. If you are a new patient to Chapel Hill Internal Medicine, you can save time by completing the Pre-Registration Form and the Medical History Update Form prior to your first appointment. Once you have created an online account, select Health Forms, complete each form, and click on Submit. |
MEDICARE PATIENTS |
| Due to our patient volumes and low Medicare payment rates, our Internal Medicine providers are currently unable to accept new Medicare patients. We will continue to see established patients who have Medicare coverage or who become eligible for Medicare. We will also continue to see Medicare patients for Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Rheumatology services when referred by your primary care physician. This difficult decision was based primarily on the fact that Medicare currently pays us the same as in 1999, and an additional 10-12% reduction is scheduled to take place January 1. During this same 8-year period, the average costs of running a medical practice have increased by 45%. We feel it is important for us to continue to provide the very best in quality care to our established patients, but are unable to extend these services to new patients with the current Medicare payment rates. For established patients, we have decided to accept all Medicare Advantage Private Fee For Service (PFFS) plans. This is a relatively new type of Medicare alternative that may be beneficial for some Medicare beneficiaries. In addition to all the PFFS plans, we are considered an in-network provider only for the following Medicare PPO/HMO plans:
